Hi everyone, my name is Marsha Allen and I`d like to share with you my personal story of the many health problems and sickness I have suffered and persevered through in my life. Hopefully it gives you an understanding of why I have created this program, book and website, and why I am so passionate that I can help you by introducing and guiding you to a new way of living, thinking, cooking and preparing a much healthier choice of foods that will actually make a difference in your life instead of just having someone prescribe you expensive and potentially dangerous pharmaceuticals.
When I was a young child I was considered pretty healthy. I had the usual mild childhood sicknesses but for the most part nothing to serious or abnormal. Then when I was 12 we moved into a moldy home. People didn’t know mold was so harmful back then. My health went steadily downhill and I developed migraine headaches that became so often that I don`t remember a day without one until I was 36. Yes that’s right 36 years old. I also suffered from terrible brain fog and fatigue. The doctors kept trying new drugs but to no avail. Makes sense since they had no clue about what was causing the problems. I had my appendix out at 15 just because they couldn’t figure out what else to do. I had a sympathectomy when I was 17 for painful periods. I struggled through school not being able to concentrate. My parents thought it was all in my head and I was just lazy. I had terrible headaches and started having fainting spells in high school so they diagnosed me with epilepsy which required more drugs.
I fought through those brutal years of pain and went to university and became a teacher. Then I married my childhood sweetheart. A year and a half later I was pregnant. The fainting was more frequent so that meant increasing the drugs I was on. I had a pretty normal pregnancy except I couldn’t gain weight. I only went from 110 to 112 when I delivered. I had an 8 lb baby and only weighed 88 lbs post delivery. Well of course no one ever thought about the baby back then so because of the drugs I was on she was born addicted to the barbiturates they were filling me with. Of course nobody knew that back then so they couldn’t help her or us. Her first year was a nightmare.
Because of that I had a tubal ligation 3 years later. Then about a year later they discovered I didn’t have epilepsy and never did. Great 8 years of harmful drugs and an addicted child. Now as you might understand I am losing faith in doctors. Next on the agenda was a hysterectomy at 28. Then a hiatal hernia repair when i went down to 76 lbs because I couldn’t eat . It helped a little but not enough, so they took out my gall bladder as well but not before putting me on lots of more drugs.
After all that I functioned pretty good for awhile. I had stopped taking the migraine drugs that were not working anyways. I went back to school and worked on my degree and became bilingual in french because that was the only language my courses were available in. Not an easy task with the amount of brain fog I had to deal with. We then moved to another maritime province.
Now a defining moment in my life happened in 1984. My sister-in-law was barely functioning. She couldn’t breathe, had terrible digestive issues and a variety of other ailments. She was on oxygen all the time and nobody knew what was wrong or what was the best way to treat her. Her doctors gave her 3 weeks to live if she didn’t get the answers and help that were needed to diagnose and treat the problem. We found an environmental hospital in Dallas Texas that thought they could help her. I was the only one able to accompany her there since she could not travel alone. This unusual hospital was a completely sterile environment where they tested people for hundreds of products. Once being there and seeing what they had to offer and still struggling with my own health I decided to take one more leap of faith and join her in getting treatment from them.
The first week was a complete detox, they fed us absolutely nothing but water, nothing! After that horrible phase, we began receiving 3 meals a day, but only 1 food per meal, no salt, no pepper, no flavor, but it was food. Meanwhile they did tests in the testing room for 8 hours a day injecting you every 10 minutes. My first meal was raw carrots. I reacted by getting as high as a kite. Then they took me to the testing room and started testing me for carrots. First shot I went from the top of the mountain to the bottom sobbing uncontrollably. Next shot was a little better. Then they gave me the right neutralizing dose and I was back to normal. Oh, boy now for a new product. Same process over and over for 8 hrs. a day for 7 days a week for 1 month. Now my month in a nice sterile environment was done. Time to go home, but first we`ve gotta head to the airport, an as unsterile place you can possibly get, difficult to be happy about to say the least, but now we had the tools and knowledge to deal with our symptoms.
Readjusting to home was challenging, I was taking 20 allergy shots a day and using oxygen a lot. I was on a very strict diet just to get by at first but things got better. I wasn’t tired all the time, my fibromyalgia pain had subsided, the brain fog was better and even my migraines that I had every day since I was 12 went away. I was so amazed at how much better life could be.
Two years later I returned to the clinic for another month and got even better. Now you have to remember that was back in 1986 when allergies were not really accepted as they are today. That was when I had another defining moment. I wanted to learn how to maintain my good health and be happy. I knew I had to find more ways to support my health and it wasn’t going to come from the medical society.
So I started researching. (obsessively, according to my husband) I read books and took classes wherever I could. Everywhere I could find information I did. Then in 1990 my husband was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes and I was worried. His grandmother died of the disease and although he ignored his condition for a few years I applied my excessive research skills to learning everything I could about the disease and how to manage it. After developing eye problems David began to see the light, no pun intended. His family doctor told him this is your disease and only you can manage it.
For the next 17 years we followed dietitians diets, tried various remedies, medications and other approaches. They worked somewhat, but not enough to really improve his life. He was not happy especially considering some of the drugs had a 50% mortality rate.
In 2006 I was diagnosed with breast cancer. The doctors had let me down again. For 3 years I complained about a lump in my breast. The specialist just kept saying nothing showed up on mammograms so there was no problem. Then the breast screening clinic took it upon themselves to send me to a surgeon. He did an ultrasound and a biopsy and found it, so for my 50th birthday I got a lumpectomy. Then 3 weeks later a mastectomy because they didn’t get all 5.8 cm of it and now it was in the lymph nodes. Three weeks later the second mastectomy showed another 1 centimeter lump completely independent of the first. They tried to talk me out of it but this time I won. No cancer, but they said chances are it would probably lead to it in a year. Now off to the oncologist because I was in menopause and it was estrogen dependent so I had to take more drugs. Oh yes I forgot to mention the stupid doctor had me on estrogen replacement therapy for hot flashes during those 3 years with an undiagnosed lump. What a genius, Tamoxifen was the new drug of choice for 5 years they said. Well I took it for 6 months and gained 30 lbs in 6 weeks, had hot flashes from hell and suffered from depression for the first time in my life. At my checkup I said no more. They said I had to take the drug to prevent a recurrence and to survive because I had stage 2 cancer. I said there is quantity and there is quality. I am going for quality! He asked me to keep coming back and hopefully change my mind. I was done with doctors running my life. From now on it would be on my terms.
I researched all kinds of natural remedies and tried them. I kept my appointments for 10 years. The drug was later discovered to cause liver cancer. I know I wouldn’t be here today 21 years later if I had kept taking it. 7 years later I had reconstruction with no antibiotics again against doctors wishes but did great and never had a problem. I recovered in way less time than they expected.
Finally, 3 years ago, I found Dr. Chris Hood chiropractor and pharmacist who recommended the diet that would change our lives. no gluten, no sugar and no dairy. David’s initial reaction was “I am going to starve to death” but little by little he began to heal. His arthritis was no longer a problem and he didn’t need the knee replacement that his orthopedic doctor predicted. Best of all he could manage his diabetes with diet and insulin and no more metformin with its 50% mortality rate. He didn’t starve, in fact he loves the diet so much he intends to stay on it forever. He says it’s the only diet where he can eat his face off and still lose weight and feel great.
I joined him on the diet and could not believe how much our health improved. We are now travelling, spending our winters in Florida kayaking, working out at the gym, dancing and anything else we can think of. These things would have never been possible with our old health. It`s because of this I feel compelled to use this knowledge to help other people suffering from chronic illness. So I started doing that and enjoy watching how their quality of life has improved. I have since made a commitment to dedicate the rest of my life to helping people who are sick and tired, to end inflammation, pain, fatigue and free themselves from harmful medication.
I have created a 6-step simple system where I virtually hold their hand through the process of regaining their health and vitality. I now work with many private clients and have spoken in front of countless groups. I have gotten the chance to travel to Hawaii and Alaska, and we have bought our beautiful mobile home on the lake in Florida, where I continue to promote my business and concentrate on helping my clients.
